Il mwbamacronucleo è il mwbqnucleo più grande degli organismi che presentano mwbgdimorfismo nucleare, come i mwbwciliati. I macronuclei sono mwcapoliploidi e subiscono la divisione diretta (mwcqscissione binaria) senza mwcgmitosi. Controllano le funzioni cellulari non legate alla riproduzione, quali lo sviluppo e il metabolismo. Il macronucleo contiene centinaia di cromosomi, ciascuno presente in molte copie.
